County approves rezoning to complete Kimberland development

The Tippecanoe County Commissioners approved Ordinance 2026-20-CM on Aug. 3, 2026, to rezone roughly seven acres to an R‑1B single-family residential district so the petitioner can consolidate the remaining 88-acre development parcel. Planning staff told the board the rezoning "is, for kind of a small part of a much larger effort, to rezone to an R 1 B zoning district for 372 single family residential lots," and said the planning commission had voted unanimously to recommend approval.
Ryan Munden of RTS Law, speaking for the petitioner Kimberland Development Company, LLC, said the petitioner already owns 81 acres zoned R‑1B immediately south of the subject parcel and that rezoning the seven acres would "make it consistent with that in order for us to to develop the full 88 acres." No members of the public spoke in opposition. The board approved the ordinance by voice vote, recorded in the transcript as passing 3 to 0.
The board did not request additional conditions. Planning staff and the petitioner characterized the rezoning as completing a larger, previously considered land-use plan and enabling street alignments necessary for the subdivision.
