Trustee outlines $52,000 pressure-valve proposal to ease downhill pipe stress

Trustee Ben Hausam said the Village has completed work on a shut-off valve for the tower so the system can be isolated if needed and described a separate proposal to install a pressure-control valve to reduce high pressure at the bottom of a local hill. "The proposal is $ 52,000 and will be on next month's agenda," he said.
Ben said the pipes at the bottom of the hill experience higher pressure even though pressure regulators are installed at individual homes; the valve installation, he said, is intended to reduce wear on the downhill piping and extend its service life. The board did not vote on funding at the meeting; Ben said the item will appear on the February agenda for formal consideration.
