Sheriff Levi Dominguez told commissioners the Big Horn soccer cup at the equestrian center moved nearly 1,600 vehicles between 6:30 a.m. and 9:00 a.m. over the weekend and that the event ran smoothly despite bottlenecks caused by limited private-property exits. He said traffic flowed steadily and recommended continuing the traffic plan used this year.
Dominguez also reported a vacancy in his full-time control staffing and asked the board to approve filling the budgeted position notwithstanding the hiring freeze. Commissioner 7 moved to fill the sheriff's position, a second was recorded, and the board voted verbally "aye," with the motion carrying.
"I think there was just under 1,600 vehicles, between 06:30 and 9AM," the sheriff reported, noting the volume and the event's operational lessons for future planning.
