Council thanks 19 deployed responders and regional partners for hurricane recovery work

Fire Chief Gulasano introduced members of the city's deployed teams, including personnel assigned to FEMA Task Force 2, the State Radio Cache and the Hampton Roads Incident Management Team. Chief Gulasano said a total of 19 people deployed in support of rescue and recovery in Florida, Texas, North Carolina and parts of Virginia, and he thanked regional partners including Suffolk Fire Department, Virginia Beach Fire Department and the Norfolk Police Department for their collaboration.
Mayor West and council members publicly thanked the deployees for their sacrifice and the families who supported them while they were away. The mayor described the deployments as "crucial roles in saving lives and bringing some level of support and comfort to devastated communities."
