Charles Wasson urges Smyth County to cut school technology spending, warns against AI for students

"I wouldn't want the school board to spend any money at all for artificial intelligence for kids," Wasson said.
Wasson said students must first learn basic literacy and numeracy and argued that some technology spending could be eliminated without harming classroom learning. His remarks were part of the public-comment period; the board did not take action at the meeting and the hearing was closed.
