Board approves tentative agreement with classified unit and realigns confidential salary schedule
Summary
The district and the Classified School Employees reached a tentative agreement on organizational rights (article 16.12); the board approved the tentative agreement and separately approved a realignment of confidential administrative assistant positions and salary schedule effective July 1, 2026.
The board voted to approve a tentative agreement dated July 10 with the classified bargaining unit covering article 16.12 (organizational rights). Maribel Mesa Vargas, director of classified human resources, presented the agreement and recommended approval.
Board members moved and seconded the item, which passed on a roll-call vote. Mesa Vargas also briefed the board on opening articles for negotiations and the plan to hold a public hearing in September; that portion required no action.
Separately, administration recommended a realignment of confidential administrative assistant positions supporting assistant superintendents across human resources, business, and curriculum and instruction, finding the duties comparable; the board approved the schedule realignment effective 07/01/2026.
