Makanda schedules playground inspection; board considers swing mats and new flags

The Village of Makanda's Playground Committee confirmed a playground inspection with Brice Griesemer of RMA Loss Control for April 15, 2026. Village staff reported that Dan and Randy recently installed new ceiling tiles at the B.C. Ross Community Center on February 25 and 26, and Dan suggested buying three 80-pound swing mats (one under each swing) at roughly $125 apiece to keep mulch from being displaced.
President Shingleton said the board would check with Brice during the April inspection to confirm whether installing the mats would be permissible. The board also agreed to purchase a 3'x—250th Anniversary nylon flag for the pavilion (estimated cost about $19.95) and discussed adding a flag for the Village Hall flagpole if it is operational.
