Wastewater plant operations restored after clarifier motor replacement

Chris Stoothman, the department head overseeing the city’s collection and wastewater systems, reported maintenance work that temporarily knocked a clarifier process offline and required a motor from Jasper Engines. "We were down for about a week, but, that is back up now," Stoothman said, adding that the plant resumed normal operation after the replacement.
Stoothman also said a generator had been serviced by Taylor Sutton Service Company, flood-wall pump circuit boards were rebuilt and returned to service, and the Lafayette station had water damage that caused relay and fuse failures which staff repaired. He noted August is scheduled for grease-trap inspections at restaurants, bars and nursing homes to verify records and cleanliness.
Why it matters: the clarifier motor replacement and repaired circuit boards restored redundancy in storm-related pumping and wastewater processing, reducing near-term risk of service interruption during heavy rain. The department did not request further expenditure approval during the report; Stoothman framed the updates as completed or in routine inspection cycles.
