Student council food drive planned; elementary attendance ticks up to 438

Student Representative Joe Sullivan briefed the board on Student Council activities, including a food drive and a Turkey Bowling event scheduled for the week of Nov. 27, and a KAPE event on Dec. 16. His update included plans to distribute doughnuts at a KAPE event and to host a KAPE night to kick off the New Year.
Elementary Principal Melissa Tate reported elementary attendance at 438, up two students from the previous month, and thanked PCA, TruInsure, TruStar and SuperOne and volunteers for supporting Literacy Night on Nov. 7. Tate said December screenings are planned and new intervention groups will start in January.
The minutes also note that the secondary principal's report was presented by Superintendent Beth Shermoen and highlighted completed first-quarter grades and expanded homework-help and science support opportunities.
