Superintendent updates board on Solar for Schools, ALICE training, referendum and a new grant writer

Superintendent Beth Shermoen briefed the board on several district initiatives during the Nov. 18 meeting. She said drilling for Solar for Schools samples has been completed and the district will submit for reimbursement for 2025/2026. She also said a grant writer has been hired to focus on strategic district goals, and that curriculum and Career & Technical Education (CTE) expansion and work-based learning were priorities.
Shermoen described the ALICE safety program rollout: an introduction to the program was presented in classrooms for grades 6–12, with high school staff training scheduled for the first week of December and elementary training planned for January. The superintendent said the district is holding bi-weekly referendum meetings and plans to add a policy subgroup to the existing facilities and safety groups.
