Odessa board puts $625,000 educational levy on Feb. 11 ballot

The Odessa School District Board of Directors adopted Resolution #1-2024-25 on Nov. 26, 2024, placing a replacement excess levy of $625,000 on the Feb. 11, 2025 ballot to be collected in 2026 for educational programs and operations. The motion to approve was made by Carmen Weishaar and seconded by Zach Schafer; the board recorded the vote as 4-0 in favor.
The resolution’s ballot language presented to voters reads in part: "Shall a replacement excess levy of $625,000 be collected in the year 2026, requiring approximately $1.86 per $1,000 of assessed valuation ... to be placed in the General Fund and used for Educational Programs and Operation". Superintendent Steve Fisk recommended the levy as part of the district’s routine revenue measures to maintain current programs. The board adopted the resolution during its regular meeting in the high school library.
