Council praises unified command and staff for handling unscheduled large concert

Mike Barber (Director of Parks, Recreation and Tourism), Police Chief Mark Celeski, Fire Chief Sam Golisano and other staff described a coordinated "whole of government" approach, unified command, traffic planning by Troy Eisenberger and James LaMagda, and volunteer medical support from the Naval Hospital and Chesapeake Regional.
"You would have thought those some of those same people on Sunday night and Monday morning posted back on their social media and said, I was wrong. The city did this right," a speaker stated, and Mike Barber noted the promoter's cooperation. Police and fire leaders emphasized cross-agency volunteer support and staging an EOC and command post. Council and staff said the event went off without major incident and thanked event partners and staff for cleanup and traffic management.
