Superintendent Dave Bernhardson told the ISD 199 school board on July 14 that planning for the 2025–26 school year is underway but being complicated by uncertainty over federal funding.
"The uncertainty of federal funding for public school districts is a planning challenge," Bernhardson said, noting that federal allocations—typically finalized by June 30—provide targeted support for student learning, special education, English language learners and teacher professional development. He said those funds are "vital to our school district" and have a "significant impact on the services that support student learning and train staff."
Bernhardson said the district is hopeful the funding situation can be resolved soon; he also reported ongoing projects at all school campuses and routine summer maintenance. The board did not take action on funding at the July 14 meeting; the superintendent framed the remarks as informational for planning ahead of the school year.
