Commissioners adopt updated ADA Transition Plan, urge larger annual budget

Dubois County Commissioners on July 20 unanimously adopted Resolution 2026‑13, formally adopting the 2026 Updated ADA Transition Plan for unincorporated areas as required under Title II of the Americans with Disabilities Act. The adopted resolution states that the plan meets the requirements of Title II and takes effect upon passage.
Highway Engineer Levi Leffert told the board the county’s current ADA budget of $5,000 is insufficient to carry out necessary work and recommended increasing annual funding to at least $10,000. Leffert said a steering committee and ADA training will be needed and that larger projects requiring planning and coordination should be funded separately. The board adopted the resolution by motion, recorded as carried unanimously; Exhibit A of the resolution is available on the Dubois County website.
