Board reviews 2026-27 handbooks; agrees to add nondiscrimination, IAQ and cellphone oversight language

The Floodwood Public School District board held the second reading of the 2026-2027 Student Handbook, Employee/Activities Handbook and Preschool Handbook on July 13, 2026. The board recorded that handbooks will be revised to include discrimination statements meeting federal, state and Minnesota Department of Education requirements.
Discussion also covered fragrance, animals and plant language tied to the district27s IAQ Management Plan; the board directed that those provisions be added. The board reviewed cell phone policy and confirmed current policy and handbook verbiage will remain unchanged for 2026-27, while instituting additional oversight measures to ensure staff and student compliance.
