Secondary Principal Mike Thofson told the board the school is advancing compliance with the Minnesota Read Act through staff training, administration of NWEA and CaptiX assessments, and parent communication to guide interventions.
Thofson said teachers are receiving professional development in literacy, data use and AI through monthly Gruvy Academy sessions. He described expanded student supports including multi-language learner programming and three on-site mental health therapists, and noted substitute teacher orientation focused on school culture. He also described a new senior tradition of ceiling tile painting to promote school pride and creativity.
