Secondary principal reports MCA scores above state average, READ Act rollout and safety drills

Secondary Principal Mike Thofson reported that recent Minnesota Comprehensive Assessments show LCWM students scoring above the state average in Reading, Science and Math. Thofson said teachers are reviewing sub-scores to identify targeted supports and that the school is implementing the READ Act with NWEA assessments and plans for tiered reading interventions over the next two years.
Thofson also reported continued refinement of safety procedures through evacuation and lockdown drills conducted with law enforcement partners, including K-9 units. He noted the new cafetorium sound and projection system is fully operational and staff are being trained on updated controls; he added planning has begun for a Service Flag Display in partnership with the Lake Crystal American Legion.
