Oak Park awards $218,000 design contract to extend 9‑mile shared‑use pathway

Maroney said the city previously received an Oakland County Access to Transit grant of $100,000, leaving an estimated city cost of approximately $118,000.
Maroney said completing the pathway to the City of Southfield border would make Oak Park the first community in Oakland County to finish the entire route and that the design work will allow staff to pursue construction grants and analyze amenities such as bus shelters, benches or play elements. Council members expressed support and the motion carried on roll call.
