The board approved three items from the fire department: permission to set up MDA "Fill the Boot" collection points at Wayne Street and Auburn Drive on Sept. 2 (1–4 p.m.), Sept. 3 (1–4 p.m.) and Sept. 4 (10 a.m.–1 p.m.); authorization to purchase a breathing air compressor, fill station and cascade system from ProAir Midwest for $66,400 (the lowest quote from four vendors); and an extension of sick leave for firefighter Zach Adams through Sept. 1 because of a work-related injury covered by workers' compensation.
"The fill will be set up at the intersection of Wayne Street and Auburn Drive for the following days and times, September 2, 1 to 4, September 3, 1 to 4, and September 4, 10 to 1," the fire department representative said when seeking approval. The fire chief's staff confirmed ProAir Midwest was the lowest bidder and provided equipment meeting department requirements. The board voted on each item by voice and carried all requests.
