Brian Lee, president of the Clemson Area Chamber of Commerce, asked council for permission to place a removable sign in the right-of-way to direct visitors to the Patrick Square farmers market; the proposed sign is 72 inches by 36 inches, with the bottom 56 inches above ground, and would be installed seasonally from May through December.
Separately, staff presented a grant agreement to allocate $20,000 to the Chamber for sponsorships supporting qualifying community events. Andy explained the agreement would formalize the historical allocation and require an annual report from the Chamber on funded events. Council members asked about effective dates and public notice; staff said the Chamber will provide reporting and the city will notify nonprofits about policy changes.
