Planning director announces assistant director promotion; staff lists four BZA appeals

Dr. Rhonda Russell announced Aug. 4 that Treyvon Boone has been promoted to assistant director of planning and zoning; the role will initially include dual duties while the transition occurs. "Treyvon Boone has been promoted to assistant director of planning and zoning," staff said during the meeting and commissioners congratulated him.
Assistant Director Boone outlined four special-exception appeals scheduled for Aug. 26 before the Board of Zoning Appeals: a request by Portsmouth Public Schools to modify a nonconforming sign at 401 West Road; Satisfied Home Builders LLC seeking reestablishment of a previously existing single-family dwelling at properties on Queen Street; and a request by Better Quality Homes, LLC for a reduction of the minimum interior side yard setback from 7 feet to 4.5 feet to build a dwelling on a 30-foot-wide lot at 47 Noble Street. Boone said he would stand by to answer questions and staff will continue coordination with the BZA.
