The Fridley School Board voted unanimously Aug. 20 to adopt a large package of policy updates, including Policy 102 (Equal Educational Opportunity for Students), Policy 413 (Harassment and Violence), Policy 506 (Student Discipline), Policy 514 (Bullying Prohibition) and Policy 524 (Internet, Technology, and Cell Phone Acceptable Use and Safety).
Board member Sara Jones moved to approve the readings; Erik Keeler seconded. The motion carried 5-0. The adopted list spans policies on curriculum (Policies 601, 603, 604), student supports (Policies 608, 616), and operational items such as Policy 606.5 (Library Materials) and Policy 624 (Online Instruction).
District administrators told the board the package represents consolidated updates across academic, safety and operational policy areas intended to align practices districtwide. The transcript does not specify effective dates for each policy; those dates were not specified during the meeting.
The action follows standard board procedure for one-reading and adoption of policies and will be reflected in the district policy manual. The board will next meet Sept. 17, 2024, when any implementation questions can be raised further.
