Dubois County tells Spencer County it will not pursue a regional jail feasibility study

President Kluesner presented a request from Spencer County asking whether Dubois County would be interested in exploring a regional jail. He reminded the Council that Indiana Code 11-12-4-5 requires a feasibility study before a county may begin construction or submit final jail plans, including evaluating housing inmates in another county’s jail or a multicounty facility.
Following discussion, the Council’s consensus was to notify Spencer County that Dubois County is not interested in exploring the possibility of a regional jail with them. No motion or vote was recorded; the decision was reached by consensus during the meeting.
