County engineer warns gas tax suspension could cut highway revenues by about $800,000

Leffert’s statement estimated the county’s Motor Vehicle Highway (MVH) receipts average about $345,000 per month and Local Road & Street (LRS) receipts about $66,500 per month; a four‑month suspension could reduce combined revenue by approximately $800,000.
Leffert told the Council he "does not want to suspend, delay, or cancel current projects" and said he will monitor actual revenue impacts before making formal funding requests. Council members discussed contingency options and the consensus was to consider using LIT-ED funds to cover shortfalls for projects already planned for 2026.
