Wellness foundation reports 82 students served, expands senior meal deliveries

Tammy Verhus, interim executive director of the Rainier Foothills Wellness Foundation, told the Eden Plus City Council the foundation served a total of 82 students in the 2025–26 school year — 62 at Enumclaw High School, nine at Enumclaw Middle School and 11 at Thunder Mountain — and described measurable improvements in behavioral interventions and a small uptick in GPA. "We have served a total of 82 students, which is amazing," Verhus said.
Verhus reported the senior hot-meals program currently serves about 66 seniors (about 80 served year-to-date), preparing roughly 400 meals from scratch each week and relying on about 87 volunteers for shopping, prep and delivery. She said the organization filled a vacant counselor position in January and asked residents to contact the foundation or staff with questions. The presentation was given during the council's regular meeting and Verhus thanked the council for its past support.
