Board approves amended attendance boundaries affecting about 2,000 students

John Morrstead, executive director of finance and operations, told the board: "Approximately 2,000 elementary and middle school students would be impacted by this scenario," and described two edits that reduced the number of student moves compared with earlier proposals.
Board members praised the process and staff for minimizing disruption. Kaye Balilla, executive director of community relations, and Morrstead said next steps include notifying families, refining special education placements, and adjusting transportation routing; one elementary school may shift start times to balance bus tiers. The district said it will follow labor‑contract processes for any required staff reassignments.
The motion to adopt amended Scenario 2A was moved by Director Thomas Brooks, seconded by Director Keith Tate, and passed 6–0. District materials attached to the packet include school‑by‑school appendices with expected changes and a description of feeder adjustments.
