One trustee described the criticism the board had faced from some community members and defended the board’s commitment to students: "they they care about the kids... they truly care," said Mr. Kennedy during remarks about the group that had criticized the board. Other members said Cash "has been a steady hand" and that his voice was valued.
The chair and colleagues offered personal recollections about Cash’s background in the district, and several joined in wishing him success. The chair then invited Cash to make his final motion; the meeting adjourned shortly after the tributes.
