Student representatives propose World Cafe events to gather student input on safety and belonging

"We kind of we talked about having a World Cafe, with students to talk about, like, three main things, which are safety, belonging, and inclusion," said Alia, a Maple Grove Senior High representative, explaining the plan to hold grade-band sessions and then translate outcomes into action steps. Representative Hikma Adam (Osseo Senior High) and Christian Vargas (OALC) said the World Cafe format—mixing writing, drawing and small‑group conversation—would help reduce sampling bias and surface voices that are otherwise marginalized.
Board members thanked the student reps and invited them to continue participation in work sessions as the district develops the student stakeholder survey and plans community conversations.
