Board approves 10‑year facilities maintenance plan as part of multi‑year capital work

Dale Carlstrom, the district’s director of facility operations, presented the revised 10‑year Long Term Facilities Maintenance (LTFM) plan required by the Minnesota Department of Education and described how LTFM dollars will be coordinated with the Build A Better Future (BBF) renovation schedule.
"The Minnesota Department of Education requires that we communicate a 10 year LTFM plan through the annual update that we will be discussing this evening," Carlstrom said as he summarized project priorities and the expenditure application form included in the board packet. Assistant director Jeff Arthur reviewed site‑level projects and timelines, including mechanical work, chiller and locker‑room renovations and phased multi‑summer projects at Maple Grove Senior High and Park Center.
The presentation showed a flat debt plan intended to limit tax impacts while accelerating deferred maintenance in the first four years of the plan. Following staff comments, the board voted to approve the revised LTFM plan; the board will be asked later to approve a preliminary LTFM levy in September and to certify the levy in December as part of the debt planning timeline.
