WEM principals and activities director report trips, testing and participation numbers

District administrators used the March 23 board meeting to update the board on student activities, testing and participation counts. High School Principal Brandon Tagg said the district completed the third quarter and moved into the fourth quarter with preparations for Awards Night and Graduation. Tagg reported a successful Junior Career Day on March 12 and announced a band and choir trip to Washington, D.C., leaving March 25. He also noted a Sophomore JA Finance Park event at Gustavus Adolphus on March 31 and that 19 juniors took the ACT at WEM on March 20 after a series of morning prep sessions.
Activities Director Jeff Boran summarized winter honors and state qualifiers and provided spring participation totals: Bulldog boys track 22 participants (grades 7–12), girls track 15 (7–12), softball 21 (V & JV) plus 16 JH, baseball 27 (V & JV) plus 22 for 7th & 8th, Clay Target Team 64 participants and girls flag football 15. Boran also reported Driver Education classroom scheduled June 1–12 and ongoing preschool and SACC registration for 2026–27.
