Utility board authorizes RFQ for preliminary engineering of proposed substation tied to USEDA grant

Utility Director Rob Schneider asked the board to approve moving forward with an RFQ for preliminary engineering with an option for final design to support a potential new substation tied to a USEDA grant. Schneider said SERPC is assisting in drafting the RFQ and staff will solicit multiple firms and select based on qualifications.
"Again, this is to get the preliminary engineering done," Schneider said, noting that if the city is awarded funding the selected engineer could perform the final design. A board member moved to allow Schneider to proceed with the RFQ process and the board approved the motion.
