Playground renovation at Thomas delayed; shade structure and equipment now due in August

Carbondale ESD 95 staff reported the Thomas playground demolition began July 7 but that unexpected soil compaction issues have delayed completion originally estimated for July 25.
Chief School Business Official Janiece Blake said a meeting with W&B Architects, Samron, Klingner & Associates, Hutchinson Recreation and district representatives was held to address the issue. Blake reported the shade structure has a ship date of Aug. 18 and the equipment a ship date of Aug. 25; staff flagged recess alternatives until the site is ready and noted Sesser Pave and Seal will reseal and stripe the asphalt surface after installation.
