CES95 Posts Bilingual Teacher, SLP and Dean of Students Positions for 2025–26

The Carbondale Elementary School District No. 95 board approved postings for three key positions for the 2025–26 school year: a Bilingual (Spanish) teacher at Parrish School, an additional Speech and Language Pathologist (SLP) at Parrish School, and a Dean of Students position at Thomas School.
Michelle Martin, Director of Data Reporting and Programs, explained that a bilingual Spanish teacher is required by law once a school reaches 20 or more students speaking the same language. Janice Pavelonis, Superintendent, said the additional SLP posting is needed “due to the current incoming caseload for the 2025-2026 [year]” and recommended adding the position at Parrish School. The board also approved changing the Assistant Principal posting to a Dean of Students at Thomas School after finding a lack of qualified candidates for the original role.
All three postings were approved on motions recorded in the April 24 meeting; appointments will be contingent on licensure and clear criminal background checks as noted in the personnel motions.
