Patty Taylor told board members she is seeking the Cascade SD 5 seat to "bring that longevity piece" to planning and to support future generations; she cited being a district graduate with family members in local schools.
Taylor described her nonprofit experience as board president of an organization with a multimillion-dollar budget and said she has been part of strategic planning and hiring decisions. She told the board she is dedicated and stays with organizations "through good times and bad times," and that experience shaped her perspective on supporting staff and community programming such as local fairs and school activities.
On time commitment, Taylor said monthly meetings and occasional additional board work are to be expected and that she understands the position could require several hours a month depending on issues that arise. Board members reiterated that the board focuses on policy, procedure and the evaluation of the superintendent while operations are managed by administrators.
Taylor will join the board following the unanimous appointment vote later in the session.
