Superintendent Helena Chirinian summarized the district's negotiations with the Brookings-Harbor Education Association, describing a collaborative bargaining process that concluded with a three-year tentative agreement. Chirinian said the contract includes language improvements regarding probationary teachers and discipline and cost-of-living adjustments of 6% (year one), 5% (year two) and 4% (year three), with a minimal insurance increase.
The board voted 4-0 to approve the Collective Bargaining Agreement 2026-2029 after a motion by Alan Nidiffer and a second by Janece Payne. Union President Mike McQueen and Vice President Kristi Oliphant were present to sign the agreement at the meeting.
