Parks & Recreation staff gave a suite of operational updates at the committee meeting. Staff said a bathymetric survey at Lake Forest has been completed by the district’s engineering contractor and is under evaluation to determine whether the work will proceed this winter or be deferred to next winter.
"Our back engineering did perform bathymetric survey, at Lake Forest...we are currently evaluating the results," a staff presenter said. Staff also reported a recent meeting with the school district to modernize an expired joint‑use agreement so it covers current programs and could enable additional joint use in the future.
Staff recognized the golf operations team and said they had a strong post‑COVID season, and noted the ice rink will open at 11:30 a.m. the Saturday after Thanksgiving. "We are gonna finally open the ice rink, 11:30," one director said. Staff also detailed youth program growth and said the dilapidated Skylandia Lodge had been removed and replaced by two shipping containers (one serving as an office and another housing utilities); staff said the site could host public art opportunities next year.
The updates were delivered as information to the committee; staff indicated follow‑up reporting will come when decisions are made on surveys and agreements.
