Project representative: 75 volunteer hours and tree protection in place ahead of winter work

Ireland, representing the Tahoe Cross Country Lodge project, told the committee volunteers recorded 75 hours of site work, including cleanup, tree identification and installation of tree‑protection and perimeter drip‑line fencing for trees to remain.
"We had, we had 75 volunteer hours, that we brought to that site," Ireland said, adding that the developer has passed work to its contractor and tree harvester (Matt Finley of Finley Family Farms) and expects limited district staff involvement going forward. Ireland said the contractor will use low‑impact mechanical equipment and will wait until the ground is frozen (or at least 8 inches of compacted snow) before proceeding under the TRPA and CAL FIRE permit conditions.
Ireland said the contractor expects four to five days of on‑site work to cut and stage logs and that next spring the team plans to begin the soil‑disturbing phase and trailhead relocation targeting May 1. The comments were made during the public comment portion of the special committee meeting.
