Board adopts ambitious grade-level proficiency targets through 2028

The St. Anthony–New Brighton School Board approved Student Success Metric Goals that set explicit grade-level targets through 2028. Targets include raising 3rd-grade MCA reading proficiency from 49% to 70% and 3rd-grade MCA math from 61% to 80%; 5th-grade reading from 60% to 80%, 5th-grade math from 52% to 70%, and 5th-grade science from 52% to 70%.
For 8th grade the board set targets of reading from 49% to 70%, math from 39% to 60% and science from 34% to 55%. For 11th grade the board recorded an ACT composite increase target from 21.6 to 23 and an ACT math increase from 20.7 to 23; one 11th-grade reading figure in the posted text was inconsistent and is not reported here. Cassandra Palmer moved to approve the metrics; the motion carried 5-0.
