Board hears how district tracks bullying, staff injuries and supports affected staff

District described new Synergy reporting for K–5 incidents, a protocol for buildings with three or more staff injuries in a week, expanded staff training and targeted supports for injured ESPs and students affected by bullying.
District staff told the board that consolidating incident reporting into Synergy improved data validity and allowed more precise interventions at building level.
"We shifted reporting of student incidents in K–5 to Synergy. This allows for increased data validity and an increased ability for us to pull and disaggregate data in a way that we can make meaning out of," said Sunny (district staff). The team described a protocol that triggers support for any building that records three or more staff injuries in a week; options include additional DBS support, targeted professional development and distribution of personal protective equipment to sites.
Board members asked how parents are informed about bullying investigations and what triggers partner involvement; principals said counselors and social workers conduct investigations, that some incidents meet statutory bullying definitions, and that district staff balance data privacy with clear family communication about steps taken.
