"Once a visitor enters the office, they're gonna check-in using our Raptor Visitor Management System," said Matt Korsmaul, security and emergency management specialist, describing a move to put visitor check-in in vestibules so visitors can be screened before entering the building. He added that staff use card‑access systems on exterior doors, enterprise camera systems monitored day and night, and recently installed lockdown buttons that trigger interior and exterior blue strobes to warn people outside not to re-enter.
Board members asked about metal detectors and whether screening at vestibules could be expanded. Security staff said the district is actively pursuing vestibule-based Raptor check-in this school year but is not pursuing weapons‑detection systems broadly due to current technology limits and potential impacts on students' sense of safety.
