Planning staff presented the city’s Community Development Block Grant (CDBG) annual action plan for program year 2024–25 and recommended council approval.
Planning and economic development staff said the city expects an entitlement of $578,004.77 for CDBG and $180,001.88 for HOME funds administered by the Broward County Consortium. Staff outlined HUD rules (65% for housing activities, 20% administration, 15% public services) and proposed allocations including owner‑occupied housing rehabilitation, down‑payment assistance, and $20,000 each to several local nonprofits for public services (Women in Distress; ARC Broward; Meals on Wheels; Lighthouse of Broward). "The annual action plan identifies projects and programs to fund using HUD's annual funding goals," staff said.
Speakers from the public praised the program’s impact for low- and moderate-income residents and domestic-violence services. Councilmember Andree asked staff to expand social-media outreach to raise awareness about Meals on Wheels and other assistance programs; staff agreed to pursue additional publicity. The council voted to adopt the CDBG action plan on a motion and roll call.
