Superintendent Darin Drill told the board the district is "approximately 30 students ahead of last year at this time," a figure administrators said they are monitoring as they plan for next year’s class sizes. Drill also noted administration is preparing for a large incoming 5th-grade cohort and that no major legislative cuts were made to the biennium affecting the district.
High School Assistant Principal Mr. Woodral described exit interviews, including a required essay students must pass to graduate, and identified four staff repeatedly named by students for positive impact: Tina Christensen, Lisa Newman, Taylor Guidos and Natalie Lucey. He also noted an achievement trip with "240+ students" signed up and recognized SPED staffer Cameron Ferris, saying Ferris "brings experience and [is] doing a great job."
Elementary principals reported academic growth and ongoing interventions. Turner Elementary noted gains on Acadience Literacy and I-Ready and credited culture, coaches and small-group interventions; Turner hosted a career fair with 35 local businesses. Aumsville Assistant Principal Ms. Ranzoni reported that chronic attendance has been "cut in half from the prior year" after weekly student reviews and intervention efforts.
