Cascade High to require Higher Education and Career Path Skills credit for Class of 2027

Cascade High School will implement the state's Higher Education and Career Path Skills standards starting with the Class of 2027, Principal Mr. Rasmussen told the board on April 13.
Rasmussen said Cascade will not add a separate course; instead, students will complete tasks across their high school careers that staff will grade on a rubric. Credits tied to those standards will be recorded as pass/no pass at the end of the second trimester of senior year and will not change students’ GPAs. The counseling program will be responsible for tracking completion and crediting students.
The change responds to a state requirement; the board received the report as part of regular high school updates and did not take formal action at the meeting.
