Spring City approves first reading of code of ethics ordinance

The Spring City Mayor and Board of Commissioners opened a public hearing Dec. 5 for Ordinance 2024-08, "An Ordinance to Amend Title 1 of the Town of Spring City Municipal Code and to Adopt a Code of Ethics for the Town's Elected and Appointed Officials, Employees and Board Members." After the hearing, Commissioner Reba Murphy moved and Vice-Mayor Jody Bauer seconded approval of the ordinance on its first reading; the motion carried with recorded votes Murphy-Aye, Bauer-Aye and Mayor Leon Locke-Aye.
The ordinance text presented would add a code of ethics to Title 1 of the municipal code. Officials did not record substantive amendments at the first reading; the commission proceeded through the statutorily required first-reading process and closed the hearing. The board did not schedule additional action in the minutes beyond the first reading.
