Findlay council adopts AARP age-friendly communities resolution

Findlay City Council voted to approve Resolution 30-20-26 on third reading to seek membership in the AARP Network of Age-Friendly Communities. Councilmember Heather Kensinger moved to approve the resolution and the motion was seconded; the roll-call vote recorded ayes and the resolution was adopted.
Council discussed the fiscal implications before the vote. "On this, originally, there's no charge to us," Councilmember Danny said, adding that an outside partner (50 North) will assume many responsibilities and "in the future, if there are some things that we have to do to follow through on this, then it will go to council and will have to be approved as far as expenditures." The mayor echoed that any future spending would require separate council approval. The council took the resolution up under its regular legislation agenda during the Aug. 4 meeting.
