Reconsideration Committee recommends May book procurement list to Richardson ISD board

The Chair moved and the committee voted to recommend the Richardson ISD May procurement list to the school board for final approval. The committee’s staff presenter said the list had been circulated in advance and that the committee’s role is to recommend titles after librarians and staff screening.
The Staff member described the review process: "That means that all of our books must have at least 2 positive professional reviews." She said librarians compile candidate lists, staff verify publisher and author reputations, and ISBN checks are done to comply with SB 13 before titles are submitted for purchase. The Staff member told the committee the board will consider the recommendation at its June meeting and that any parent comments received will be forwarded for the board’s consideration.
