"I move we approve the Construction Manager/General Contractor contract with Modoc Contracting Company, Inc. for the Chiloquin Elementary School Seismic Rehabilitation Project," said John Rademacher in making the motion, which was seconded by Brooke Kliewer and approved unanimously. The board authorized the superintendent or his designee to negotiate terms "in an amount not to exceed $2,060,340 including value engineering and preconstruction services." This figure was stated on the record during the action item.
Director of Business Services Janet Melsness presented the intent-to-award recommendation in the Local Contract Review Board meeting prior to the regular board reconvening. Board member Marc Staunton asked whether the project could be expanded to add classroom space to address overcrowding at Chiloquin Elementary; staff confirmed expansion is not included in this seismic-only project.
The authorization allows the district to proceed with preconstruction work and to finalize contract terms with Modoc Contracting; no vote breakdown beyond the unanimous 5-0 tally was recorded. The board did not approve any building expansion as part of this authorization.
