Almondsville opens 'Zen Den'; junior high reports 200+ students at outdoor school

Almondsville assistant principal Jody Mitchell told the board the school has opened a new 'Zen Den'—a calm, staff‑supervised space with relaxed lighting, water features and tactile items for students to use during scheduled blocks.
"It's a really cool space," Mitchell said, describing cushy chairs, weighted items and swing pods; she added adults (administrators or counselors) supervise the room and that a recent grant plus donated labor and materials paid for the project. In a separate report the junior high principal said more than 200 sixth graders attended outdoor school, Penta Games teams placed well and promotion, dances and a talent show are scheduled as the year wraps up.
