Turner Elementary reports I Ready gains and a $250,000 wellness grant

Turner Elementary Principal Iverson told the board the school's I Ready data show improvement: "44 percent of our students this year are at or above, 49 are just a little below, and 7 percent are well below." She said Turner's middle-of-year scores outpace state and national averages in reading and math and credited small-group intervention and math coaches.
Iverson also described a $250,000, five-year wellness grant used for weekly workouts, monthly activities and stipends for building-level wellness champions. "We have weekly workouts at all the different sites... we have 3 years left of this grant to continue to refine," she said. Board members asked about wellness champions and community engagement tied to Turner's data presentation.
