Richardson ISD board denies Smolinski grievance, upholds administration after closed-session review

The Richardson Independent School District board convened on Feb. 17, 2025, and took up a final grievance filed under board policy DGBA local by Mr. Smolinski that named a district employee. The chair said the employee had not consented to an open hearing and the board therefore conducted the matter in closed session under Texas Government Code section 551.074. The board reconvened into open session at 1:45 p.m.
Ms. Timmy, a board member, moved that “the board dismiss the portions of the agreements that are untimely, deny the remainder of the claims, and uphold the decision of the administration.” There was no substantive discussion; a second was acknowledged and attributed to Miss Harris. The board voted 4–0 in favor of the motion. As the chair stated, “This public vote shall serve as Mr. Smolinski's notice of the board's decision.” The chair then declared the grievance concluded and adjourned the meeting at 1:46 p.m.
